The Lion King

"The Lion King" can be seen as a parallel to the representation of "the kingdom" in chapter twelve. Chapter twelve talks about how Israel is waiting for the coming of the kingdom of God in order to avoid the "catastrophe". The Israelites rely on their faith in the Son of God in order to bring about the Kingdom. This relates to "The Lion King" in that Simba, the son of Mufassa, becomes the king of the lions, and in his absence the kingdom falls to the evil Scar and the hyenas. Therefore, the lions need to have faith that Simba will return and restore the kingdom, just as the Israelites do in Chapter 12.

  1. I love the connection; anything that brings "The Lion King" into it makes my day. In your connection Simba is the bringer of peace and Joy, much like "Jesus was the herald of good news". I would like to add on that Simba is the light, just like Jesus, leading his people from disorder. Simba being rightfully restored as king is a restore in order, a completion in the natural circle of life(Jesus is the light, he represents order).

Side note: (The circle of life of Jesus, "Christ has died, Christ has risen, Christ will come again.", is another parallel)

    Great connection

  2. I agree as well that the connection between the two is great. I think that Mufassa's brother Scar can be seen as a symbol as well. I think Scar symbolizes all of the sin and hate present here on Earth and that is what is keeping us from the kingdom of God. Scar's name is also symbolic; our souls are scared by our sins and it will take the healing hand of God to repair ourselves.
